THE NIGHTWATCH

The film A Ronda da Noite (The Nightwatch), directed by João Sousa Cardoso within the individual exhibition produced by the program ARTES (Contemporary Art Program of the Manuel António da Mota Foundation).
Occupying Cinema Batalha for a month – an essential and historical place of the cinema in Portugal –, across a dialogue with Artur Andrade's modernist building (opened in 1947) and questioning the relationships between theatre, cinema and the memory of the moving image, A Ronda da Noite is a feature film that adopted Heiner Müller's text Quartett, produced on site and premiered in the last night of the exhibition, in the Cinema Batalha's main room.
